Our Approach

As simple as possible, but not simpler...

Einstein stated "Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler."

This is the essence of Arkiom's philosophy. We do not over engineer solutions, or overcomplicate a process. Whether at the highest level or the lowest, we strive to envision a grand elegance, a holistic solution that argues it's own merit based on simplicity and effectivity.

A Case Study

One of our clients, during the initial meeting, asked us to describe our typical engagement in the simplest terms. After explaining our process verbally, we went back to our office to generate a graphical representation of our engagement process at the highest level. By presenting our engagement process visually, we were able to present a complex interaction in a very simple format. You can view that document by clicking on the graphic located to the right.

Upon receiving the document, this client remarked:

"I often receive answers in longwinded proposals, emails, phone conversations and meetings. This is the first time any vendor has presented information in such a simple manner."

We engaged this client, and embarked upon a successful yearlong project beginning with a graphical analysis of current processes, and ending with final development and implementation.

When details are required, we simply take one section of the process model and go one level deeper. In the example above, if we were to break down only step #3 (Arkiom internal meeting/analysis) for clarity, the results would look something like this: (click on image )

The Visual Approach

Our process models are almost always graphically based. Humans are designed to process visual information, Arkiom capitalizes on this fact. Our process and analysis documents can be understood by the Chairman of the Board as well as a low level coder in sector 7-G.

In this way we can analyze, revise, go into greater depth and reassess the entire process model visually. Once processes are mapped out, planning, analyzing, changing and discussing a project plan becomes both clear and straightforward.

We Deliver Value

Before we begin planning the future, we like to know where you are and where you have been. Often analyzing existing processes is the first step in developing a project plan. It's also a good way for us to demonstrate the value of our process. Once the process analysis is completed, we can take the next step.

Throughout the journey, we strive to produce deliverables that have real value. Our greatest frustration with many consulting firms is unusable deliverables such as huge analysis reports that no one will read or use. We want to plan the work and work the plan. We want our work to have a high degree of usability. In most cases we are retained to take the next step, from analysis to project plan to implementation. We develop each phase of this project as if we will be using our own deliverables to take the next step, even if we are only contracted to deliver one piece of the project.
